Onde Mora a Esperança

client · Acreditar
project · Production / Strategy / Art Direction

Acreditar is a Portuguese association dedicated to supporting children, young people, and families affected by cancer.

Casas Acreditar, located near hospitals in cities like Porto, Coimbra, and Lisbon, provide a safe and welcoming space for families who must leave their homes to access treatment. Without these homes, many families would face frequent long journeys, unnecessary hospital stays, or be left in inadequate living conditions.

In 2022, Acreditar announced the expansion of its Lisbon house near the Instituto Português de Oncologia (IPO) to accommodate more children and families battling cancer.

Blue Pepper saw this as an opportunity to capture the journey and tell the powerful story behind this space. We committed to creating a documentary that would stand the test of time and honor the incredible work of Acreditar.

This entire project was produced pro bono, as our way of giving back.

Our Approach

In this short documentary, our goal was to take the viewer on a journey through questions that are simple yet profound.

- What is a home?
- What does it provide for families?
- How does a place like Casa Acreditar play a crucial role in
the journey through pediatric cancer treatment?

The story of Casa Acreditar is one of perseverance, passion,
justice, and unwavering support.

This is the story we set out to tell. Over two years, our team followed the expansion project closely, interviewing key individuals connected
to Acreditar—from founders and volunteers to architects,
families, and doctors.

Early on, it became clear that this documentary wasn’t just
about a building.

Casa Acreditar is a "home away from home" where families
confront one of life’s toughest challenges together.

The Storytelling

The documentary is divided into four parts:

Part I:

The Concept of Home

We explore what makes a house a home—more than walls
and a roof, it’s a place of comfort, safety, and shared
experiences, both good and bad.

Part II:

Pediatric Cancer,
Families, and Acreditar

We dive into the harsh realities of pediatric cancer, the fears
and struggles families face, and the critical role Acreditar
plays in supporting them through these times.

The New Lisbon House
and Its Expansion

The documentary highlights the importance of the expansion project, which allows Acreditar to welcome more families from afar.
It also sheds light on the project’s vision, goals, and dreams.
